Peter Heiss - Fretted Instruments

Peter Heiss has a B.A. from Hood College in Guitar performance and Music History and a M.M. in Guitar performance from the Shenandoah Conservatory. Styles of music taught is Classical, Jazz, Fusion, Funk, Fingerstyle, Pop, Blues and Rock.  Peter has performed in concert halls throughout Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. and is the former host of The Takoma Station Jazz Jam. He is also an adjudicator for the Gaithersburg Young Artist Award competition.

With Peter, students come first. "I always tailor my teaching to my students needs and make lessons enjoyable. If a student is playing for sheer enjoyment or on a more serious path towards a career in music, I give them the foundation and skills they need for their future success." Peter speaks English and Spanish and also specializes in working with students with learning difficulties.

When asked why I love teaching, my answer is that teaching is a way for me to transfer my accumulated knowledge of music to the student.  It completes the circle of what I have learned from my teachers.  I love seeing students meet their goals and have fun making music and performing for others.  When he is not teaching, Peter enjoys researching anything music related and reading great literature.
